Bossygrl Launches Entrepreneur Starter Kit for Gen Z Girls and Women

Startup aspires to create the world’s biggest pipeline of female entrepreneurs

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bossygrl, a ground-breaking platform enabling aspiring female entrepreneurs to create and grow real e-commerce businesses entirely from their phones, today announced its availability in the App Store.

Using the Bossygrl mobile app, entrepreneurs can open an online store, name their business, design a logo and create unique products with no upfront costs for supplies or inventory. Users are coached every step of the way via in-app videos and informative “BossyTips”, while receiving support from the wider Bossygrl community. Members also receive access to exclusive content, including Facebook Live mentorship events featuring seasoned professionals representing a wide array of career choices and journeys.

“While the app is not exclusive to women, Bossygrl was founded to help Gen Z girls and young women develop real-world business skills, confidence, and experience, so when they hit the workforce they’ll enjoy a level playing field, said Eileen Gittins, founder and CEO of Bossygrl. “Our mission is to change the current state of gender inequality, one successful female entrepreneur at a time.”

A national study conducted by the Center for Generational Kinetics shows 77 percent of Gen Z (people aged 14 to 21) currently earn their own spending money through freelance work, a part time job, or an earned allowance. The desire and track record of earning their own spending money reveals a generation that connects work and effort to money.

“Having been CEO of several tech companies in San Francisco, I’ve learned that businesses often succeed or fail based on whether they hit the market at the right time,” said Gittins. “I can’t imagine a better time or a more receptive market than young women right now. I hear them say, ‘I want to be my own boss’, and they mean it. They’re ready to roll up their sleeves.”

One of Bossygrl’s core beliefs is to give back. Bossygrl, Inc. will donate five percent of its net profits to women-supported causes while encouraging Bossygrl entrepreneurs to do the same.

“Too many girls grow up facing gender limitations and restricted opportunity due to economic status. The Bossygrl app is so powerful because it removes those barriers by empowering our girls to start their own online businesses -- safely and successfully,” commented Julayne Virgil, CEO of Girls Inc. of Alameda County. “The icing on the cake is that as an official partner we will receive donations from Bossygrl’s social mission fund to support our critical work and make it easier for girls to discover their unique strengths and realize their full potential.”

The Bossygrl app is available to download now via the App Store for $0.99/month. Users can cancel anytime during the first 30 days with no charge.
