Take The Lead’s mission is to prepare, develop, inspire and propel women to take their fair and equal share of leadership positions across all sectors by 2025. That is ambitious, and 70 years ahead of our country’s current trajectory.

“Take The Lead began as an idea — to provide a solution to change the leadership landscape — where women have stalled at occupying 18-20 percent of our country’s top leadership positions across all sectors,” says Gloria Feldt, co-founder and president of Take The Lead.

Through free resources and  innovative customized leadership programs for individuals, companies and organizations,  Take The Lead has reached more than 1 million women since 2014. Proven strategies like training, mentoring, and coaching have and created a strong community of women who support one another in our leadership intentions.

The recent Take The Lead Day with the theme, Powertopia,  reached close to 400,000 men and women taking part in the days’ events on the November 14 global day of action. Participation was far beyond expectation and included changemakers in 217 cities in 26 countries for a total of 200 events worldwide.

Thirty-two individual or organizational event hosts participating in the livestream at satellite locations with average participation per livestream event of close to 20,000 and 840 participants in person.

Twenty-five in-person workshops and events were offered worldwide, with eight virtual workshops and events offered worldwide. Recognized by the states of New York and Arizona as official take The Lead Day, more than 75 new partner organizations signed on for the day.

“Since its beginning, Take The Lead thinks like an entrepreneurial start up and functions as a movement — made possible through collaboration and multiplying our message,” says Feldt. “In just three years, we’ve created a movement and begun to act and make progress. How? Because we don’t do things the way they’ve always been done.”
